I've been working on a pretty sweet Loree AK with a synthetic top joint for my friends at TLU.

Normally, AK Loree's are a pretty common occurence here in the shop but this one seems extremely well built with excellent intonation. Previous iterations of these that I've encountered over the years have ranged from 'so-so' to 'just OK'.

The response / biofeedback aspect on these top joints IS a little different as the plastic doesn't 'feel' like it's vibrating as much. However, the sound is just as big and powerful as any Loree wooden joint. If I had to describe it, I'd say it simply has a bit more resistance. Sound coming from the bell is the same great Loree AK bore sound we're all used to.

The suction is amazing (and no cracks!) which is something we can all appreciate. I do hope this is par the course for future Loree synthetic options -- they are sure doing a great job with these.

I dig this. A lot, actually. Super easy to play and super easy to work on with great key fit and voicing.
